🔒 Privacy Policy

Last updated: February 25, 2026

1. Introduction

BOTALKS ("we", "our", "the App") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what data we collect, how we collect it, how it is used, and what third parties may receive your data when you use our AI voice conversation application.

2. How BOTALKS Works

BOTALKS is a client application that connects to your own OpenClaw Gateway — a self-hosted AI gateway that you run on your own infrastructure. We do not operate any central servers that process your conversation data.

When you use BOTALKS, the following data flow occurs:

  1. Voice Recording: Your voice is recorded on your device when you press the microphone button.
  2. Speech-to-Text: The audio recording is sent to your OpenClaw Gateway for transcription (speech-to-text conversion).
  3. AI Processing: The transcribed text is forwarded by your Gateway to an AI provider (such as Anthropic Claude, OpenAI GPT, or other models) as configured by you.
  4. Response: The AI-generated text response is sent back through your Gateway, converted to speech (text-to-speech), and played on your device.

3. Data We Collect

3.1 Voice Recordings (Audio Data)

What: Audio recordings of your voice when you use the voice chat feature.

How: Recorded on your device using the device microphone when you press and hold the microphone button.

Where it goes: Sent to your own OpenClaw Gateway server for speech-to-text processing.

Retention: Audio data is immediately discarded after transcription. We do not store audio recordings.

3.2 Text Queries (Conversation Data)

What: The transcribed text from your voice input and AI responses.

How: Generated from speech-to-text processing on your Gateway.

Where it goes: Sent from your Gateway to third-party AI providers (see Section 5) for generating responses. Conversation history may be stored locally on your device for display purposes.

Retention: Local conversation history can be cleared in app settings. Data on your Gateway is managed by you.

3.3 Gateway Connection Information

What: Your Gateway URL and authentication token.

How: Entered by you via QR code scan, deep link, or manual input.

Where it goes: Stored locally on your device only. Never transmitted to us or any third party.

3.4 Subscription Information

What: Your subscription status (active/inactive, plan type).

How: Managed through Apple In-App Purchase (StoreKit).

Where it goes: Processed by Apple. We receive only subscription status confirmation, not payment details.

3.5 Diagnostic Data

What: Anonymous crash reports and basic usage analytics.

How: Collected automatically by the Expo/React Native framework.

Where it goes: May be sent to Expo (expo.dev) for crash reporting. This data cannot identify you personally.

4. Data We Do NOT Collect

5. Third-Party Services and Data Sharing

BOTALKS connects to your self-hosted OpenClaw Gateway, which may forward your data to the following types of third-party AI service providers:

Service Provider Data Shared Purpose
Anthropic (Claude) Transcribed text queries AI conversation responses
OpenAI (GPT, Whisper) Transcribed text, audio (for STT/TTS) AI responses, speech processing
Other AI Providers Transcribed text queries AI conversation responses
Apple (StoreKit) Subscription purchase data In-app purchase processing
Expo (expo.dev) Anonymous crash reports App stability monitoring

Important: Which AI providers receive your data depends entirely on your own Gateway configuration. You choose which AI models and providers your Gateway connects to. Each provider's data handling is governed by their own privacy policies:

6. In-App Consent

Before any data is transmitted to your Gateway or any third-party service, BOTALKS displays a Data & Privacy consent screen that:

You may revoke your consent at any time in the app's Settings, which will prevent any further data transmission.

7. Data Security

We implement the following security measures:

8. Your Rights

9. Children's Privacy

BOTALKS is not intended for children under 13 (or 14 in South Korea under the Personal Information Protection Act). We do not knowingly collect data from children.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Significant changes will be communicated through the App and noted with an updated date at the top of this page.
